The Caroline County Garden Club presented member Linda Moore with the club’s Mary B. Holt Memorial Award at its September 11, 2026, meeting. The Mary B. Holt Memorial Award is awarded bi annually and is named in memory of dedicated and longtime club member Mary B. Holt. The award is given to club members who personify excellence in horticulture and design.
Moore joined the club in 2010, and has been a very active participant, serving as a chair of the State House Christmas Tree Committee, which delivers a decorated Christmas tree representing Caroline County to the State House in Annapolis each holiday season, and the Garden Therapy Committee, which works with seniors and disabled adults creating seasonal floral designs. She also served as club president from 2015 to 2017. Jan Edwards, the club’s 2024 Mary B. Holt Memorial Award recipient and co-chair of the Awards Committee, presented the award and noted Moore’s well-crafted designs, her participation in many State and District Garden Shows, as well as her ongoing leadership for the State House Christmas Tree and Garden Therapy Committees.
Moore’s best memories of her time with the Caroline County Garden Club involve her participation in flowers shows and the advice and help she has received from the veteran members of the club. Her favorite things about being a member of the club include her friendships with fellow members, hearing from guest speakers, and learning new things. When asked what she would tell someone who was considering joining the Caroline County Garden Club her response was, “I would tell prospective members were are a great group of ladies and to come grow and serve with us.” For those interested in learning more about the Caroline County Garden Club please email ccgardenclubinfo@gmail.com, call 410-253-9540, or visit the club’s Facebook page, “Caroline County Garden Club-Maryland.”
