Florence Sharp Truitt “Flossie” of Queen Anne, MD passed on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at The Residence at Eden Green in Denton, MD. She was 94 years old.
Born on August 14, 1932, in Easton, MD, she was the daughter of the late C. Elliott Sharp, Sr. and Elizabeth Councell Sharp.
Flossie was a graduate of the last 11th grade at Easton High School. She was most admired as a devoted caregiver, offering an open heart to others in need. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed having Sunday dinners for them for many years.
Flossie is survived by three of her children: Phil Truitt and his wife, Betsy, of Queen Anne; Cindy Durham and her husband, Mike, of Queen Anne; and Jo Ann Councell and her husband, Phil “Chip” Jr., of Cordova; as well as her daughter-in-law, Sharon Truitt, of Centreville.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Kelly Hall (Mark Boyle), Melissa Councell, Jason Councell (Casey), Alan Durham (Sarah), Kris Durham (Victoria), and Michael Truitt Jr.; nine great-grandchildren: Ryan (Taylor), Corey, Laela, Addie, Avery, Davis, Sydney, Anna, and Nathan; and two great-great-grandsons, Barrett and Reaves.
In addition to her parents, Flossie was preceded in death by her son, Mike Truitt Sr.; grandson, Scott Truitt; three sisters, Evelyn Lynch, Cecilia Stanley, and Catherine Hickson; and one brother, Bud Sharp.
The family will host a Celebration of Flossie’s life on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Cordova Fire House at 2pm.
