Eighty-nine Colonel Richardson and North Caroline High School Students Inducted into the National Technical Honor Society

Posted

The Caroline County Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) welcomed eighty-nine new members from Colonel Richardson High School and North Caroline High School on Monday, March 10, during their 2024-2025 academic year induction ceremony. The ceremony was held at North Caroline High School’s auditorium.

NTHS combines excellence in academics, career readiness, technical skills, and overall character. North Caroline’s NTHS Faculty Advisor Brad Plutschak explained to the crowd of parents, school staff, and community members that students must meet high standards to be considered for NTHS induction. These requirements are: “a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0, a minimum career and technical education grade point average of 3.5, a commitment to career preparedness through participation in career and technical education courses or organizations, a recommendation by school faculty or administrators, and a successful completion of an overall holistic review for good character, work ethic and attendance.” Colonel Richardson’s NTHS Faculty Advisor is Bernadette France.

Caroline County NTHS Vice President Megan Rogers led the pledge of allegiance at the opening of the ceremony, followed by remarks from Caroline Career and Technology Center Principal Courtney Handte and Superintendent Dr. Derek Simmons. Caroline County NTHS President Isabelle Greeno and Treasurer Elizabeth Knott then performed a candle-lighting ceremony, lighting a candle for each of the seven pillars of NTHS: skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership.

As individual inductees were called to the stage to accept their certificates, a slideshow played in the background showcasing their personal interests, extracurricular activities, special recognitions, and future plans.
