Caroline County Goes Back-to-School!

Posted

Caroline’s kids went back to school on Wednesday, August 26. As parents took the signature first-day photo and students and teachers greeted each other with excitement, Superintendent Dr. Derek Simmons shared this message with the community:

“This may have been the shortest summer on record, and it certainly felt like more of a marathon than usual. Our 12-month staff had an unusually condensed period of time to close out one year and prepare for the next, tackling the essential work of data, technology, instruction, maintenance and facilities, and much more with remarkable focus.

Yet before we knew it, our new teachers arrived and powered through a fast-paced, six-day orientation, including the signature bus tour that introduces them to Caroline and the communities we serve. This was followed by our annual staff Kickoff, an amazing event that brings us all back together again and celebrates who we are.

All of that preparation came into full focus with the first day of school, a favorite day for most of us. Watching the buses roll in this morning was, as always, a reminder of the hope and optimism that define the start of a new school year. It’s truly a joy to see the kids, kindergarten all the way through high school, greet each other and the staff with such enthusiasm.

We’re excited to begin 2026-2027, and look forward to another successful year with our students, teachers, support staff, administrators, families and the community who supports us so wholeheartedly.”

The Caroline County government also acknowledged the first day of classes by reminding drivers to be vigilant on the road:

“As the new school year begins, we extend our best wishes to Caroline County students, educators, staff and families for a safe and successful year ahead.

With school buses returning to our roads, drivers are reminded to slow down and remain alert. If the stop arm is out, your foot should be on the brake. It really is that simple. Put the phone down, pay attention and give students the time they need to cross safely.

Wishing our entire school community a wonderful first day and a successful school year.”

Caroline Review.News would also like to wish all the parents, students, teachers, school staff, administrators, bus drivers, and more a wonderful first week of the 2026-2027 school year!
