Theodore Lee Brittingham Harmon, son of the late William Edward Harmon and the late Getrude Brittingham Harmon. He was born November 21, 1939 in Belltown, DE. He departed this life on September 21, 2026 peacefully at his home. He was 86.

Theodore received his education at Nassau Elementary and from William C. Jason High School in Georgetown, DE.

He attended and was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church of Belltown, DE before leaving home. Later he became a member of Ross Chapel AME Church, under the leadership of

Rev. Randolph Fitchett, Jr., further along he became Trustee Pro Temp until his health began to fail and held at one point the title of “Man of The Year” from the circuit, which was recognized at the Baltimore Annual Conference Men’s Night.

Before moving to Maryland, Theodore held many jobs that he talked fondly of, some of which were: working at Coursey’s Dry Cleaners in Lewes, DE (the only black-owned and operated at that time); he also worked as an apprentice at the dry cleaners in Seaford, DE; lifeguard at Lewes Beach, and working with many family members at Star of the Sea Hotel in Rehobeth, DE, (of which he worked as assistant to the head chef, who was his mother Getrude Harmon. She was one of the first black chefs in the history of the “Star of the Sea Hotel”.) After relocating he held numerous jobs as well at Merrimac Dry Cleaners, McCords Dry Cleaner, Nuttle Lumber Company, Cannon Wright Contractors, Wye Mills Grain & Co. (as a truck driver ~ “The Blue Knight”), Seger Glass, The Budget Barn and Go Glass.

Among his many hobbies were: model trains, sketching, roller skating, listening to various genres of music including (Old School R&B, Old-Time Gospel, Blues like Muddy Waters KebMo and BB King), Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding’s “Dreams” and country (he drove everybody crazy with that song “The Battle of New Orleans” - … In 1814 we took a little trip…we fired our guns….”; tinkering on bicycles and collecting antique glass and of course, riding motorcycles… and how can we forget the “infamous poolroom he had. On his motorcycle, is where he attracted Juanita, (who she calls the “Love of Her Life”). They were a couple since she was 16 years old.

He did enjoy his food and sweets. He enjoyed making sweet potato pies. But his favorite desserts were: rice pudding and cornstarch pudding. His favorite down-home meal was “Homemade Chicken and Dumplings”. In his later years, he was known to sneak and beg for candy from anyone he could, especially Hershey Miniatures and Orange Lifesaver Mints.

One of Theodore’s favorite sayings was “This Too Shall Pass”.

Theodore was preceded in death by his siblings: Joseph Harmon, Ruth Maker and Danny Harmon.
