Mary Cummings

Mary Evelyn Fluharty Cummings passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at The Pines Nursing and Rehab in Easton, Maryland. She was 87 years old.

Born on May 1, 1939 in Harmony, Maryland, Mary was the daughter of the late Lawrence, Sr. and Roberta Fluharty. She attended school in Preston and graduated from high school in 1958. On May 10, 1958, Mary married David Cummings. In her professional life Mary worked at Waverly Press / Cadmus from 1966 until she retired inn 2002.

Mary loved her Orioles and going on AARP trips. She volunteered at the Salvation Army in Cambridge, Maryland. Mary also spent countless hours crocheting blankets for co-workers newborns, and she was skilled at needle point. Mary enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with her family fishing, crabbing, and waterskiing. When David was still alive he and Mary would take little two or three day trips together.

Mary is survived by her son Tracy L. Cummings; her sister Margaret (Maggie) and husband Bill Rogers; her brother-in-law Charles McNeal; her Sister-in-law Blanche Fluharty of Dover, DE; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles W. Fluharty, Lawrence Fluharty and Leon Fluharty; her sister Ruth McNeal; her sister-in-laws Mildred Fluharty, Libby Fluharty and Jan McNeal; and nephew Chris Fluharty.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, Maryland starting at 11am. A visitation will take place the same day one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be at Noon at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD
