GREENSBORO – The annual Greensboro Car Show was held on Saturday, August 29. For the fourth year in a row, the event brought car enthusiasts, vendors, volunteers, and community members together for a day of fun and fundraising.
The car show was started in 2023 by Greensboro’s Public Works Supervisor, Brandon Cunningham. The car show acts as a fundraiser for Greensboro’s youth basketball program, which is spearheaded by Cunningham.
Town Manager Cindy Yost explained that the program “provides local children with an opportunity to participate in organized basketball at absolutely no cost to their families.” Children ages 6 through 17 are eligible to participate. Yost said that last season, approximately 130 children from throughout Caroline County participated in the 12-week program, supported by eight volunteer coaches. Yost added that 100% of the proceeds from the car show go towards making the youth basketball program happen – but they are still tallying up the exact amount raised this year.
Yost clarified that the car show is not officially a Town of Greensboro event, although the town generally supports the fundraiser by donating the property to be used and through the participation of several Town Council members and town staff as volunteers.
“It really was a great example of the community coming together for our kids,” Yost said.
