At the Christkindlmarkt sponsored by Downtown Denton Main Street, on Dec. 5, shoppers visited vendors, who in turn supported Christmas Wishes, part of the Social Services fund that puts toys directly in the hands of Caroline County kids.
The team effort raised $2,500 for the fund.
Children who receive social services are eligible for Christmas Wishes. Parents and guardians applied for gifts which were picked up Dec. 20.
“It wouldn't be possible to even consider taking on such a large task without the support of the Denton downtown marketplace,” said Glenn Anders, Caroline DSS assistant director of child support. “And we opened it up a lot more this year because of the support. That's why we're helping 300 children, because the need is that much greater.”
