Candidate Bio
I am a lifelong resident of Caroline County and a proud graduate of North
Caroline High School. Shortly after graduation, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving my country with honor before returning home to build a life and family.
For the next 25 years, I poured my energy into the community I love. I married, raised three children near Federalsburg, and built a successful irrigation business from the ground up. Along the way, I coached Little League, supported town ball teams in Preston and Federalsburg and Colonel football, donated money to high school baseball, and never hesitated to jump in wherever local kids needed a hand.
As an avid outdoorsman, I enjoy hunting, golfing, fishing and crabbing. I’m an
active member of the American Legion and the Ruritans, and I’m a familiar face at the Federalsburg VFW — especially on Friday shrimp nights.
Now an almost–empty nester, my favorite role is being Pop Pop to our 4-year-old grandson, with a granddaughter on the way. As I enter this next chapter, I remain rooted in family, service and the community that shaped me.
How does the office that you are seeking serve citizens in Caroline County?
I think it helps them in their time of mourning to get their estates settled up. I think it's very important to get all that straight. I've had some family members die, and I've definitely been on that side of it. It was a big relief to have that (guidance), and it'd be nice to provide that to other people as well.
I've learned a little bit since I've filed for the office, but there is still a lot to be learned.
If your office budget has significant budget cuts, how do you imagine you will handle this?
The situation dictates, but I don't know if I have enough information to answer that question because I don't know any details.
Your office is a state office serving Caroline County residents. How will you manage local needs with state requirements?
I'm sure there's a set of guidelines you have to follow, so you work within those guidelines to make the job happen, and I'm sure there's other resources to get information and help. I imagine it pretty much works itself out, but I'm good at adjusting on the go. Field adjustments are definitely required in my line of work. There's nothing I can't figure out.
