It has happened every year for 14 years, and on Sunday, July 31 it will happen again. Hundreds of gleaming motorcycles, awesome street rods, and classic and custom cars will roar in from all over the region to the Benedictine School in Ridgely for the highly anticipated 2016 Annual Chrome City Ride. The event raises funds for tuition assistance for children, and opportunities to work and live in the community for adults with disabilities. Organized and produced by volunteers primarily from state and local law enforcement, Chrome City Ride has raised over $1,290,000 over its 14 year history.

“Chrome City Ride is one of the Eastern Shore’s most unusual and exciting events,” said Benedictine’s Executive Director Scott Evans. “The students and adults here look forward to when the motorcycles and cars come up the lane onto our campus. It is an amazing experience, but even more than that, we appreciate so much that the riders care enough to return year after year. Our friends mean a lot to us.”

“Especially exciting for the 15th Annual Ride is the 1941 Willy’s hot rod donated to Benedictine by a car collector from New Jersey,” said Evans. “The professional appraisal is $70,000. We will feature the car at Chrome City Ride and we will be accepting sealed bids that day as well as through various hot rod websites. Highest bid over the minimum will buy this unique and beautiful custom classic car. Proceeds will benefit the kids of Benedictine, thanks to our generous donor,” Evans noted.

Owners of impressive cars and bikes from all over the Mid-Atlantic will gather at various designated locations, then cruise in convoys with police escorts to the Benedictine School campus. The $25-per-rider pledge provides each rider with an official Ride T-shirt, a delicious catered lunch, entertainment (including the return of “Rockin’ Elvis”), a chance for prizes and trophies, and a day of fun showing off their chrome to an appreciative crowd. Children under 12 are free, but do not receive a T-shirt. Spectators are also welcome, and their $25 minimum contribution also provides them with an official Ride T-shirt, lunch and a day of fun. The riders are expected to arrive on campus around 11:30 AM.
